Debbie Foster is a Matthews resident and lifetime student. She is an instructor in the Communications Department at Central Piedmont Community College, but has a variety of other interests: singing, sign language, gardening, birdwatching and reading. She volunteers for and is on the board of Companion Parrots Re‐homed, a rescue and adoption organization for parrots. She is the vice president and one of the founding members of Habitat and Wildlife Keepers (HAWK). In addition to her own certified backyard, she was instrumental in getting her church (St. Luke Catholic Church) certified through the FAITH program (Fellowship Actions Impacting the Habitat, and earning habitat certification for CPCC's Levine campus. She is a Habitat Steward certified by the National Wildlife Federation, will be a Master Composter in May, and is working toward a Native Plant Certification Playing in the dirt is not just for kids!
